Privacy Policy

Data processing and its purpose: Maisa is a service that allows you to access your social and health care data and communicate with social and health care providers. The app asks for your consent to access your phone’s functions only for strictly defined purposes: Location data is used solely for on-site appointment check-in or to find nearby services. Other device features are used, for example, to enable video appointments. With your permission, the mobile app may retrieve your health tracking results (e.g. steps) from Google Fit or Apple Health and include them in your patient record. Maisa never shares your patient data with these health apps or with any third parties.

Storage and responsibilities: The actual data controller of your personal data is HUS (the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa), the City of Helsinki, or the Vantaa and Kerava wellbeing services county, Oy Apotti Ab acting as the data processor. Maisa never stores your location data. All permissions given to the application are voluntary and can be cancelled at any time.

The Maisa mobile app

Maisa may interact with your sensitive data to provide certain features, such as video visits or mobile appointment check-in. The first time you try to use any of these features, we will ask for your consent within the app and will only allow you to use a feature if you give consent. You do not have to provide consent if you do not want to allow Maisa to interact with your data as requested. Maisa is developed by Epic Systems Corporation; please refer to Epic’s Mobile Application Privacy Policy for Patients for more detailed information about the limited ways they may interact with your information to make your use of Maisa possible.

Maisa may offer location-based check-in for in-person appointments or allow you to find health and social care providers near you. The first time you try to use any features that use your location, we will ask for your consent within the app and will only access your location if you give consent. You do not have to provide consent if you do not want to allow Maisa to use your location. We do not store your location data.

The Maisa mobile app will never share your health or social care records documented by your health and social care providers with third parties.

Google FIT and Apple Health

With your permission, the Maisa mobile app can connect with the Google FIT or Apple Health apps to receive data about your health and share it with your health care provider. The Maisa mobile app will never share your health records documented by your health care providers with Google FIT or Apple Health.

Once you have allowed the Maisa mobile app to synchronise your Google FIT or Apple Health account with Maisa, data that you have agreed with your health care provider to track yourself will automatically be incorporated into your electronic health record through Maisa. Such data can include blood pressure, blood glucose and daily steps. You can cancel the permission at any time in the Maisa app. This will stop the data from being shared from Google FIT or Apple Health to Maisa.
