Pori

In Pori, nature and services are always nearby. The Yyteri beach is an oasis welcoming people of all ages. Its soft sand and the refreshing sea attract hosts of visitors. The Kokemäenjoki river with its magnificent delta provides a route from the sea to the city, whose sights and shops are accessible e.g. on foot. Rest for a while on the beach on Kirjurinluoto or have a picnic in the Kirjurinluoto Park.

PORI - an easy-going jazz city
John, Duke of Finland, established the City of Pori in 1558. He also had the magnificent Ulvila mansion built on the banks of the Kokemäenjoki River. He spent happy and romantic nights in the mansion with his newly-wed wife, Catherine of Jagiellos.

The Kokemäenjoki still flows through the city and its islets and islands characterise the city centre. The best-known island is Kirjurinluoto, a green free-time oasis for the whole family and the main location of the international jazz festival. Next summer, Pori Jazz will conquer the city on 17 – 25 July 2010.

Where culture and nature meet
There are many ways to enjoy your stay in Pori. The Pori Art Museum, Satakunta Museum and the city's most beautiful stone houses, built in the 19th century, are all located in the city centre, by the river. The Natural Heritage Centre Arkki, located in the city centre, presents the wetlands wildlife and birdlife characteristic of the Kokemäki and Pori regions. The parks, the market place and the pedestrian street offer visitors a pleasant environment. The summer is full of convivial music, culture festivals and top-class exhibitions. Major festivals taking place next summer are e.g. the RMJ festival, Pori Jazz and Pori Folk.

Yyteri welcomes guests around the year.
With its sand and dunes stretching over 6 kilometres and its gently sloping shoreline, the Yyteri beach is an ideal and safe place for the whole family. Yyteri provides its visitors with good possibilities for outdoor activities and hiking, both in the forest and on the sea shore. Services for tourists are provided e.g. the Yyteri Spa’s services, high-quality cottages and the Top Camping Yyteri , the Surf Centre, a golf course and a riding school.
