Pomarkku

The beautifully conserved Pomarkku parish village is considered one of the most beautiful settlements in Finland. Pomarkku is known as a village of two steeples – there are two churches standing next to each other. The Pomarkunjoki River runs through the picturesque village. With its foamy rapids and idyllic stone bridges, the river characterises the whole municipality.

Pomarkku village road welcomes visitors. The traditional village milieu and the Pomarkunjoki River and its rapids flowing through the village cannot be described in words – you have to experience them for yourself. Two beautiful churches, an old wooden church built in 1802 and a beautiful stone church built in 1921, located in the very heart of the village, are sights worth visiting as well as the beautiful Isojärvi Lake, on whose banks you can overnight in a cottage or try out different activities. Nature’s pearls: Handcar track for tourists
The only handcar track open to tourists runs from Kankaanpää to Pori through Pomarkku and Noormarkku. Handcars can be rented at the old railway station in Pomarkku. The Isoneva marsh, a conservation area located by highway 23, is very popular among hikers. There is also a bird observation tower along the route.

Places worth visiting
Hakalinna is the place to visit if you are hungry. Moreover, with its movie theatre and catering service, Hakalinna can host a range of parties and festivities - there is a restaurant that seats 70 persons and a magnificent festival hall that seats 300 guests.

Holiday village or camping site?
The holiday village, Korpirämäkkä, is situated by the lake Valkjärvi, 35 kilometres from Pori. There are 15 cottages of different sizes and a camping site in the holiday village. In addition to the saunas in the cottages, there are common lakeside saunas, a smoke sauna and meeting facilities in the area, as well as a sandy-bottomed beach and playgrounds for children. You can go fishing, hiking, kayaking or mountain biking. Cottage rents include a fishing fee.

The Lomakallio Caravan camping site is located on the southern bank of the Isojärvi Lake. You can also rent cottages, boats and places for boats in the area. You can dine or enjoy a cup of coffee at the Cafe-restaurant, Wanha Kahvi-Riihi.
