Kokemäki
The town that gave its name to the Kokemäenjoki River has welcomed travellers for thousands of years. Kokemäenjoki, originally known as the Teljä marketplace, has served merchants and their customers from every corner of the world.

Kokemäki is located only an hour away from Turku and Tampere, and only two from Helsinki. Take highways number 2 and 11 or other interesting routes, and you will arrive at the town that gave its name to the Kokemäenjoki River. Visitors will find cultural history on the streets, nature characterised by water features, well-appointed accommodation, good food and interesting events. You can visit the cafés in the town centre and villages later in the evening. In addition to having a cup of coffee, you can dine in Salkkari and Jokiparkki all year round. You can also visit the bakery shop of Viialan Kotileipomo/ Viiala Family Bakery. Pleasant summer cafés open their doors at the beginning of the summer season. Both the mind and the body can be refreshed at Galleria Valomo’s café. The Muuntamokahvila/ Transfer café offers thematic pastries and art exhibitions. Mantan Jokikahvila/ Manta’s River Café serves those travelling along the river or on the road. You can discover the original old-time atmosphere at Mummon kahvila/ Grandma’s Café.

There is a national exhibition in Galleria Valomo, located in the idyllic landscapes of Säpilänniemi. Meet interesting people in an interesting milieu. The art café Muuntamokahvila/ Transformer café is located in the centre of the town and, in the summertime, there are changing exhibitions. The exhibition premises in Asemakylä, Peipohja, will bustle once again with artwork dealing with a surprise theme, chosen by Kokemäen Kulttuuriyhdistys r/ Kokemäki Culture Society.

Venues: Pappila (the parsonage), Gustav III’s church, Vanha Yhteiskoulu (The old co-educational school), Seuratalo (the associations’ building).
