A nature trip in a church boat on the beautiful Joutsijärvi Lake in Kullaa and a visit to Kustaa’s chimneyless hut.
The maximum size of the group is 14 (max. 16) persons + the guide. We will walk a total of 3 kilometres and row a total of 8 kilometres. We will gather at the Kullaa church boat harbour in Kylmälahti on Joutsijärvi Lake. Coffee will be served upon arrival at the shed in the church boat harbour and information will be provided on the trip.
We will travel by rowing the church boat to the wilderness hut of Sisälmystenlahti (4 kilometres of rowing). During the trip, the guide will give an overview of the birth, past and present, fishing and birdlife of Joutsijärvi Lake. From Sisälmystenlahti we will continue on foot to Kustaa’s chimneyless hut (1.5 kilometres away).
Sights and stories along the trip:
- the location of a hiding place dating from the Isoviha (Great Hate i.e. oppression by Russian military occupiers of the 18th century)
- the ancient logging site quarters
- the location of the coal burner’s house, its sauna stove and the bottom of the coal kiln
- unique geological details, crags and the abundant flora
Kustaa’s chimneyless hut
- The life of the inhabitants of the hut, Kustaa and Kaisa, in the 1850s
- Coffee and crepes will be served
We will return on foot to the church boat and row along a different route for the return journey.

Driving instructions to the gathering point: exit the Pori – Tampere highway at the Koski sign, drive approximately 0.5 kilometres, turn at the sign for Kylmälahti, cross the bridge and drive for around 0.5 kilometres, turn to the left, onto Kylmälahdentie, then follow this road for around 3 kilometres.

The age of iron at the Leineperi ironworks
A welcome reception in the Leineperi Info centre upon arrival at Leineperi. The guests are led to the miniature Leineperi ironworks, where they are given a general overview of the works:
- why the ironworks were founded in Leineperi
- anecdotes on the founder of the ironworks, Berndt J. Hastfehr
- the owners
- stories on the everyday lives of those working in Leineperi
- coal burning
- forging iron
- the purpose of the factory buildings
- Smith Sacklen’s house, how people lived around a hundred years ago
- Ruukinkatu (the Ruukki street) and the smiths’ houses
- A visit to a renovated smith’s forge, the chance to try out a smith’s tools
- A visit to the blast furnace dating from the 1820s and the history of iron making.
- The sports museum, the home of Olympic gold medal winner, Kaarlo Kangasniemi, where you can see his medals.
- Restaurant Savipakari, made of clay, constructed in the 1860s and once the town’s common bakery

A guided tour of Ulvila town centre, guided bus tour, duration 1 hour, a more detailed guided tour, duration 2 hours. Departure from the town hall.
