Fishing
The Pori region offers those fond of fishing the catches of their dreams. Resorts located on the shores of Pori, Merikarvia and Luvia are famous for their fishing grounds. The Kokemäenjoki River flows through the Pori region and e.g. the rapids in Nakkila provide a great setting for fishing.
Fishing licences for the Pori region and the Kullaa fishery collective can be purchased from Pori Regional Tourist Agency/Ltd.’s office (address: the Promenade centre, Yrjönkatu 17, tel. 621 7900).
You can purchase a fishing licence for the waters of the City of Pori 16 €.
Regulations concerning fishing
There are no restrictions on the size of the mesh in nets and fish traps, and the use of grappling hooks as well as other hooks is allowed. Torch-fishing is allowed only for those residing permanently in the municipality and they too must report this to a board member of the fishing collective. Traps must be marked clearly with a sign that remains on the surface of the water or ice, bearing the name and address of the owner. The maximum number of nets in the same line is 5 (a net being a normal 30-metre-long net). Traps not duly marked with the name and address of the owner will be removed by gamekeepers.
