| Pori Art Museum |
|
Pori Art Museum is situated in the centre of the town by the River Kokemäki; it resides in an old ware- and weigh house originally built for the use of customs. The building is part of the historically important riverbank blocks built in the 19th century in the Neo-Renaissance style.
The floor area of the museum is approximately 2800 m2, out of which the big exhibition space covers around 800 m2. The total area of lobby premises used for exhibitions is around 200 m2. This organisation of the premises, realised in the modernist spirit, has proven very successful, in both aesthetic and technical terms. www.poriartmuseum.fi |

| The natural heritage centre Arkki |
|
The natural heritage centre Arkki, presents wetlands nature in Satakunta, which is unique in Finland. Make surprise findings in a decaying wall of seaweed piled on the shore by the tides and ice, and watch the ringed plover and wagtail waddling among the rocks. Experience the mysterious atmosphere of early summer nights at the river delta: accompanied by the continuous melody of nightingales and warblers through the night. Cowslips and irises glow in the first rays of the sun on the bank of the misty river. See the osprey that have found a fine nesting tree with spacious vistas, on a solitary rugged pine standing on a patch of dry land in the middle of a bog. www.pori.fi/smu/arkki.htm |
